True longevity does not mean everlasting state of the physical body. It means to overcome the law of physics in this world and transcend material things, overcome the ego, free one's self nature and elevate spirituality to enter "eternal life."
At any era, practice is necessary in order to understand any Master's teachings. Supreme Master Ching Hai used the story of showing magic power about a Buddhist monk Hui Ting, and a practitioner of both Buddhism and Taoism, Zhang Borui, to remind Her disciples, "If a person lost interest in worldly fame and fortune, he's already half a saint, but the reason to forsake fame and fortune is more important. If one forsakes fame and fortune but idles away his time, he would waste his life and food from this world."
